Logistics company DHL opened an ocean freight terminal in Kochi this week, and has also launched a weekly direct less than container load (LCL) service between Kochi and Europe, North America and other destinations, according to Freight Net.
The new service, operated by DHL's carrier Danmar Lines, will offer a three-day reduction in transit times.
"With the timely introduction of this new LCL service, we can offer opportunities to our customers to increase their footprint in global commerce as the world's economy picks up," said Amadou Diallo, DHL's South Asia Pacific CEO.
"This fixed direct LCL Consol service connecting Kochi to the rest of the world has further strengthened our ocean freight product to support customers especially in the spices, palm oil and coir business sectors," he said.
